Today, Inventux announced its plans to build a production plant for thin-film modules

Berlin, September 3rd 2007

Today, Inventux announced its plans to build a production plant for thin-film modules based on silicon in the German capital Berlin.

IIn the presence of the Senator for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues and Mayor of Berlin, Mr. Harald Wolf, and René Gurka, Managing Director of Berlin Partner GmbH, the Chief Executive Officer of Inventux, Volko Löwenstein, stated: “We want to actively promote Berlin’s development to become a cluster for solar business. Next to production Inventux focuses on R&D regarding nano layers. And Berlin clearly offers ideal conditions for this endeavor with its young academics, qualified work-force, excellent research community and finally its internationality.” With Inventux’ move to the Eastern part of Berlin 120 industrial high-tech jobs will be created.

Groundbreaking for the solar factory will be this fall. The first thin-film modules are expected to leave the 33 MWp factory a year later. This equals 275,000 modules, which could cover the area of 60 soccer fields and provide approximately 7,500 European households with clean energy..

The micromorph tandem technology basically has the potential for high efficiencies and low production costs. In the mid-term this will lead to grid parity and solar power being competitive to the pricing for conventional energy.
